Phenomenal happenings in Qingdao have made the international news cycle in the USA. Check out a video that purports to show a mirage in the sea near Qingdao.
According to local CBS affiliate WKRG all the way over in Mobile, Alabama, the block of apartments floating on the sea is just an optical illusion:
Qingdao City, China (CBS) – A ghostly block of apartments was visible above the sea surface close to Beach No. 1 in Qingdao City, east China’s Shandong Province at 15:00 on Sunday.
Although the optical illusion lasted for over 2 hours, only a few people seemed to have noticed the floating spectacle, perhaps due to the foggy weather.
Mirages rarely appear in Qingdao. Local residents who saw the imaginary buildings were not able to determine which ones they were, and are sure that there are no such structure close to the coast.
