For our next run on Saturday, 25 August, we have another very special run for you. Using his “l33t h4x0r skillz” the Hare Straydog managed to get a very rare email from the future about the run [insert sci-fi sound-effect here]. Read on to find out what the run is about and what to expect. There’s also a tl;dr at the bottom for you lazy folk.
And here is the email from the future:
Last Saturday I had a really great time with the Qingdao Hash House Harriers. It was a very special run because we went out to the countryside and could experience the villages away from the big city. We met at the Crowne Plaza lobby at 12:15 and there was a bus waiting for us already. At 12:30 sharp the bus started the engines and we drove around 45 minutes into the countryside. We paid RMB 40 per person and that would be enough to cover the fees for the bus and the drinks for the afternoon. There were two volunteers who prepared the run this time: “The Hermit” and “Straydog”
And the trail was absolutely amazing. First the runners left the bus because they had a longer trail than the rest. Their trail apparently went through some really cool mountain villages and past some small restaurants with stunning views of the mountains. I decided to stay with the slower walkers though and the bus took us to a different spot where everybody got out of the bus. From there we started our walk also through villages and past small creeks and a lot of nature. We had to find our way through the village and make sure we stay ‘on trail’. It didn’t take too long and then a guy called “Too Fucking Fast” caught up with us. No idea how he arrived so early, maybe he took a taxi? We had a short rest in a village where there is a big painting of Chairman Mao and then we continued our trail and went towards the wetland and the water. We walked along the coast and finished up at a harbour where we would then have a big seafood dinner. In total the trail for the walkers must have been 11km and for the runners around 16km. The restaurant is only about 30 meters aways from the fishing boats and we spent around RMB 60 for a big seafood dinner and had a lot of fun. The Hare Straydog even brought some very tasty drinks from Papua New Guinea for us that we all tasted. We had the bus back at around 9pm and arrived downtown in time for some more fun in the evening.
Check out the pictures from the trail! You will see how nice the places are. That is all from along the trail. Cool, isn’t it?
It was one of the best decisions I made lately to go and join this run. This for sure must have been the best run ever”
See Hashers, this could be your email. You only need to come to the Crowne Plaza on Saturday to experience all of the above.
