Qingdao is one of the cities in China that offers a chance to see a Chinese Basketball Association game live and in person. The CBA has been around since the 1995-96 season and the quality of play along with the caliber of players has consistently improved. Going to see a professional basketball game is an experience that you should not pass up if you are living in Qingdao.
The Chinese Basketball Association, often abbreviated as CBA, is the first-tier professional men’s basketball league in China. It is widely regarded as the pre-eminent professional men’s basketball league in Asia.
The CBA team in Qingdao is nicknamed the Eagles and their sponsor is the Qingdao-based athletic shoes and equipment manufacturer Double Star (Shuang Xin). If you go to a game at the Qingdao University arena, you will hear the fans chanting “Shuang Xin Dui, Jia You!”, which means, “Double Star team, let’s go!”. You may hear some other colorful language too, but if you are not fluent in Chinese swear words, it should be a family friendly night. Check out the Qingdao Double Star Eagles schedule for 2017-18 on Asia-basket.com.
