These “language schools” are a rip off man… many people I meet have paid a year or two in advance, non refundable, with the dream of learning English… and some actually do learn something… most do not. Students usually leave with a few words added to their vocab and a lot lighter in the wallet.

IMHO, neither Wall Street nor EF, New Oriental and all these places are options to consider. Private businesses that mostly do not allow you to do a professional job; there are many horror stories about them in the internet.. Public schools are much safer and better to work for. OK, they pay much less bur [...]

Hi James, Wall Street is a well-known foreign language school in Qingdao, located at the most popular area in QD with convenient transportations. Should be good as a teacher there(but their classes are so expensive… and I heard many people complain about their teaching quality). However, we have many private language schools of this kind [...]

“early next year” as in early 2013? That will make it very hard to predict the price. You can rent something decent from RMB 3000 per month on. If you want seaview or want to be close to the entertainment parts, then it’s maybe from RMB 5000 on. Buying can be expensive and even in [...]

Moving to Qingdao early next year and just wanted to know how much prices are for a decent apartment (2 bedrooms) in a nice area. We will be looking to buy eventually. I dont mind living out in the suburbs.

I have heard mostly good stuff about this place within the realm of a corporate chain school. There are 2 locations in Qingdao: one on Yuanyang Square (pedestrian mall north of Jusco) and the other on Xianggang zhong lu near the city gov bldg. Both are central in the downtown Qingdao area.

    Hi

I’ll be in Qingdao for two days and nights from the 25th and will be looking for a decent hotel (good price) in and around some decent bars, cafe’s and of course not too far from the beach!

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    James

I’m planning to shoot over to Beijing in two weeks via the train. Anyone have any suggestions or tips? Maybe on what to expect or a good but cheap place to stay. I’ll only be there for the weekend. Thanks!
