Here’s a Quick How-To for Using all the Features on QINGDAO(nese)

SIGNING UP

To create an account, go to http://www.qingdaonese.com/register and complete the required fields including your desired username, password, email address, name, and birthdate. Optional information requested includes your gender, hometown, relationship status, the amount of time you’ve spent in Qingdao, and personal information you’d like to share with others. Note that member birthdates are required as registration is for 18 years and above. Leaving comments requires the creation of an account. Please refer to our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy for any concerns you may have about signing up.

PROFILE

After you have created an account on QINGDAO(nese), personalize your profile with your own avatar. If you’d like a globally recognized avatar, or gravatar, visit gravatar.com for more information. Information can be customized to be shared with everyone, your friends, or only yourself, to set privacy settings go to your profile and then edit profile. To change settings, visit settings and either choose general or notifications.

FRIENDS

Add and confirm friend requests to build your social network in Qingdao. You can search and browse through the current members by visiting http://www.qingdaonese.com/members.

GROUPS

Join and create groups on any subject related to life in Qingdao in particular and China in general. To create a new group, go to My Account > Groups > on the Account Menu at the very top, or from the Groups tab on the Main Site Menu. Once on the Groups page, click the Create A Group button and follow the step by step instructions. Members are automatically added to a group when posting information on its activity stream or forum within that group. You can search and browse through the current groups by visiting http://www.qingdaonese.com/groups.

POSTING FORUM TOPICS

Members must be in a group to post to a forum (existing or new topic). Forums are contained within the group to which the topic is relevant. If the group is a public group, join by clicking on the Join Group button (for example, on http://www.qingdaonese.com/groups/help/). Members are automatically added to a group when posting information on its activity stream or forum within that group. You can search and browse through the current forum topics by visiting http://www.qingdaonese.com/forums.

PRIVATE MESSAGING

Sending messages to other QINGDAO(nese) users is a simple way to communicate with other members of the community. All messages should contain valid member names, a subject line, and the message. From the Account Menu at the very top of the page, choose My Account > Messages and go to Inbox, Sent Messages, or Compose. There is also a messages tab on each member’s account profile page.
