A nationwide tour in support of animal rights visits Qingdao on October 9 and 10, 2011. Efforts in China to promote awareness of veganism and educate about animal cruelty issues such as bear bile harvesting and fur farming are being led by the movement called Don’t Eat Friends.
More info from Bie Chi Pengyou.
“Don’t Eat Friends” is a group consisting of young people who turned vegetarians out of love and compassion for non-human animals. It distinguishes itself from other animal protection groups in China by advocating non-profit, non-religious and pro-veganism ideas as well as holding regular benefit concerts.
The activities will take place on two days at two venues: October 9 at Sonospace Books in Creative 100 and October 10 at Qingdao University’s Aobo Coffee House (奥博啡舍). Qingdao musician Keli (from Carrchy) and China’s Vegan Initiative Founder Xie Zheng (Shay) will appear at both locations. There is no entrance fee for either event.
