The China Symphony Orchestra Choir performs in Qingdao at the Qingdao Grand Theatre on June 18 and 19, 2011. Conductor Wang Linlin leads the mixed chorus through a “New Choral Concert of Chinese Folk Songs” on the 18th and the patriotic Yellow River Cantata on the 19th. The Yellow River Cantata (composed by Xian Xinghai) was first popularized during the Anti-Japanese War and later inspired the Yellow River Concerto, China’s best known nationalist themed musical work of the 20th century.
