Toastmasters Thursdays

The Qingdao chapter of Toastmasters International meets every Thursday evening at China Gong She in Qingdao. Toastmasters is a group dedicated to the improvement of members’ public speaking. The working language of Toastmasters in China is English. Speech givers receive feedback from Toastmasters members in attendance.

Meeting Place and Time: Meet at Hotel Crowne Plaza lobby at 2 PM for a 2.15 PM SHARP hare off!! We will take our bus # 363 to Licun (李村).

People going directly to the run start point, please plan to reach there NO LATER than 2.30-35 PM!

Run starts as soon as we all reach the start point, approximately by 2.40-45 PM!

More Info: Hares say the run will be under 20 km and it will include parks, fountains, rivers, villas, mountains, crops, construction fields and skyscrapers.

World Cube Qingdao Open 7.29

The Qingdao chapter of the World Cube Association hosts a Rubik’s cube competition in Qingdao on July 29, 2012. Attendance is free, participation is welcome, registration is requested to compete (30 yuan RMB fee).

This is the first time such an event has been held in Qingdao. Entrants will be tasked with solving the original cube as well as 3×3 One-handed, 2×2 Cube, 4×4 Cube, 5×5 Cube, 6×6 Cube, 7×7 Cube and Rubik’s Magic.

Check out mathematical prowess and dexterity on display at the Qingdao Communist Youth League School at 81 Xuzhou Road in Shinan district (next to the Qingdao Publishing House on east side of Xuzhou Lu, north of Jiangxi Lu).

Join the Qingdao Hash House Harriers for a run in Huangdao Kaifaqu Development Zone (west of Qingdao proper, across the Jiaozhou Bay) on July 21, 2012. This marks run number 285 in the history of the Qingdao group of drinkers with a running problem.

The meeting time at Crowne Plaza has been moved forward to 1 pm to accommodate the chartered bus journey through the tunnel. More details on the run below.

As we all know Huangdao is very famous for its beautiful beaches, but its not only just those… Our route begins near Petroleum University. One beer stop is guaranteed. The trail will end at the Golden Beach – so those who make it that far can enjoy a luxurious swim – do not forget to bring your swimsuits!!

Tao Zhensheng 7.21-25

Check out a series of images called “Narrative” by Tao Zhensheng at the Qingdao Art Museum from July 21 to 25, 2012. The official exhibition opening is at 3 pm on July 21. Known as Lao Tao around Qingdao, the artist maintains a studio in the 1919 artist complex in Taidong. The venue is located across the street from the craft brewery Strong Ale Works on Qingdao’s historic Daxue Lu.

Qingdao Jonoon vs. Dalian Shide 7.22

Qingdao’s first division Chinese Super League football club Qingdao Jonoon (青岛中能) plays at home against Dalian Shide (大连实德) on July 22, 2012. A French singer/songwriter, Enzo Enzo, was born Korin Ternovtzeff in 1960. Her debut as a pop performer began in 1980 with the group Lili Drop. In 1982, after the demise of Lili Drop the year before, Enzo Enzo — known by the name Korin Noviz at this point in time — released her first solo single, “Je Veux Jouer a Tout.” Soon after, two years to be exact, Korin released single number two, but more importantly, began performing and recording as Enzo Enzo. A series of singles, some well received, others not, followed over the next decade, and eventually Enzo Enzo became somewhat of a household name. Her first album, a self-titled affair, hit shelves in 1990, and was followed by another six full-lengths by the time of 2007′s Chansons d’une Maman. In addition to her respectable solo career, Enzo Enzo recorded a number of duets with other leading lights in French pop, including Jacques Haurogne, and landed a nomination in 1998 at the Victoires de la Musique in the Best Female Artist category.
