One such image-smith is long-time Qingdao resident New Zealander Jan Dawn, a devotee of pursuits photographic whose expertise through the lens and whose intimate knowledge of her city of residence perennially yields a rich abundance of uniquely perceptive shots.

Her always thought-provoking and often arresting pictures are testament to a level of commitment to engage with subject matter that is rare indeed to find. Her latest exhibition, entitled ‘Red’, is being held at the Qingdao Jinshixian Photographic Equipment Co. gallery (青岛金视线科技器材有限公司, 青岛市延安三路228号民政大厦一楼), situated at 228 Yan An San Lu, just a few metres up the hill from the Hong Kong Rd intersection. Look for and enter below the large and obvious Canon sign on the ground level of the first building on the right, and the gallery is towards the rear of the shop within. ‘Red’ will commence on Saturday, April 30th, and will run daily for two weeks, 8.30am -6pm.
